Habitat
: Totally aquatic resident of freshwater and coastal brackish estuaries. They have adapted to living in both freshwater and saltwater conditions.Food and Hunting : Primarily nocturnal, File Snakes hunt eels and catfish. Their knobby loose fitting skin helps in constricting prey before they swallow it alive. They are virtually helpless on land. In captivity they eat goldfish and minnows appropriate to their age and size.
Conservation : File Snakes are still quite common throughout their range although hunted for their skins and meat. Their slow metabolism and erratic reproduction rates make them susceptible to rapid changes in population densities. Not much is known about their habits in the wild or captivity
Captive Care : Their extremely specialized care makes them suitable only for advanced keepers.
